To The Anal Retentive Go The Spoils
As you know, we didn’t run a Corner last week because I was out of town working on some retail politics for CCA. It’s less than 30 days to the election and everyone has been campaigning since January. This means campaigns are getting nasty, tempers are short, and everyone wishes the election was yesterday. To the victor go the spoils as they say, so the stakes are high!
In this environment, giving a detailed accounting of my recent activities wouldn’t be the best idea. Especially since keeping secrets in politics is about as easy as performing a tonsillectomy on a crocodile and every bit as dangerous.
Investing In Our Future
So here’s a general accounting of my activities on behalf of CCA last week. I worked 16 hours a day for four consecutive days. I did everything from scrubbing floors to bestowing political counsel on sitting legislators and soon to be (hopefully) legislators. I wore sweatshirts, polo shirts, and t-shirts from all three of our chiropractic colleges and used them as an opportunity to educate anyone and everyone on the virtues of chiropractic and our colleges.
I smoked too many cigars, imbibed too much bourbon, too late into the morning, so I would be accepted into exclusive inner circles. I exhausted myself each and every day. I had one the of BEST times of my life. This was a week of investing in the future of chiropractic. It is a future I grow more optimistic about each time I’m able to engage in these types of opportunities.
Election 2016 – Get Educated With The 2016 CCA Voter Guide
But just because I was out of town doesn’t mean other GA activities aren’t taking place. We are TEAM GA for a reason. Our 2016 General Election Voter Guide is completed, sent via email to all of you, posted on the GA website (calchirogov.org) and a hard-copy version was sent to all the endorsed candidates which was over 100 candidates.
Please remember to thank our Associate Director of Governmental Affairs, Michelle Bancroft, for her talented, exemplary work on the Voter Guide. Honestly, we are so very fortunate to have Michelle and her many talents working on behalf of chiropractic. The mailing also contained personalized letters that included hand written notes from me for all the legislators and candidates I know personally. Can’t miss an opportunity for the personal touch.
Independent Expenditures In Full Swing
Our Independent Expenditure Committee activities continue in full force. I’ve been reviewing and editing campaign mailers while working with our PAC legal team to ensure we comply with all FPPC regulations and requirements. We don’t need any fines for things as simple as a font size being too small! Some think being anal retentive is a disorder of great magnitude, but I consider it a super power. The attention to detail possessed by the anal retentive on our GA team will produce wonders only imagined by those bereft of such super powers.
We have completed and sent four campaign mailers: Vicki Veenker (AD 24), Ash Kalra (AD 27) and two for Ardy Kassakhian (AD 43). Check them out below. To see the full mailer, click on each pic. We have more scheduled to land in mailboxes before the election. We'll share them with you as soon as they are available.

That’s all the news that’s fit to print, and some that probably isn’t…for now.

I think using the term 'tax and spend liberal Democrat' on Veenker's mailer is an unnecessary, negative put down to voters in our area. It looks like a tight assed conservative wrote this, which does not reflect our local values. Be careful with your pejoratives.
Great job Chris. Keep it up. I really enjoy reading your updates.
CCA should spend more time working with Dem's than attacking US ... Lots of CCA members are Dem's ... Get Real !
We need to be looking at what protects our practice and advances our scope which ever party they are in. CA is a strong Dem state but there are also many committed Republican reps that help us on the voting. Listen to the content of their speeches and the actions they have taken instead of the party they are in. Good work Chris and keep working both sides of the isle.
