Summary: In Quest of the White Mandan is about the white people who became integrated into the native Indian band of North Dakota Mandans. In the Seventeen hundreds the French Canadian explorer La Veranday with his sons found a Indian tribe with fair skinned people blue eyes, blonde and red haired, living in what was later to become North Dakota. Many years later Lewis and Clark found these fair skinned people with the Mandans as they made their trip to the Pacific. I learned about these people who must of come from Europe hundreds of years earlier. How did these people make their way into the center of North America?? Some speculate that they were Welsh people who came up the Mississippi River. In Newfoundland Canada, the dwellings built by the Vikings at Lance Meadows and the house built by the Mandans are exact replicas of each other. The waters of Hudson Bay flow into it from waters that lead into Lake Winnipeg after a land bridge is crossed. The Red River of North Dakota flows directly into Lake Winnipeg. Many Viking remains and artefacts have been found in Minnesota and Wisconsin. If the Vikings who settled in Lance Meadows found their way north into Hudson Bay, losing their boats to ice could easily happen. The only way out of this desolate place is south into the interior of North America. In Quest of the White Mandans Book One, is my version of how these people came to be the White Mandans. I have brought them to the shores of lake Winnipeg in book one. God willing, I will take them further to their final home on the Missouri River in North Dakota in Book Two.

Summary: No one feels the heat of an Ashes battle more than the captains of England and Australia. The weight of national expectation, and more than 120 years of history, is on their shoulders from the moment they walk out to toss a coin and start a Test match that is like no other. The Captains' Tales offers a unique insight into the minds of a generation of captains from two great nations, who share with the reader what it feels like to call the shots in Test cricket's greatest cauldron. From Mike Brearley's cajoling of Ian Botham during the famous summer of 1981 to Ricky Ponting's revenge mission of 2006-07, each Ashes captain from the last quarter-century reveals what made him tick, his vision of where he wanted to take his team and how he handled key characters within the dressing-room. The author, former Kent captain David Fulton, delves behind the scenes for clues about how these sporting generals constructed their battle plans and uses his own experience to determine their strengths and weaknesses as leaders of men. The Captains' Tales will strike a chord not just with cricket lovers but with sporting captains of all abilities and readers who seek a greater insight into the broader issues of management and leadership.

He meets new companions that aid him throughout his journey, which is filled with mystery and adventure. Despite constant danger, many humorous events take place along the way. His companions come to believe in his future and trouble is brewing everywhere they turn. Before long, they become aware that there are those that will do anything to stop them. Join Alimar as he realizes he is Asteria's Last Hope. Alana and Kilian Kenney are only a few years older than Alimar. They are leaving the safety of their country home to move to the city and find their future. They have no idea how their plans will change when they meet Alimar. Dorn Deepaxe is a retired fighter whose only daily adventure now is chopping down trees and drinking ale. He dreams of having a reason to leave his dull existence. Overhearing a conversation about a boy in danger gives him a reason to hope for some excitement and purpose, but he soon realizes that Alimar is no regular boy. Griff Borrowmore is a city businessman with a habit of borrowing things. He ends up in trouble over his questionable business practices and finds himself locked in the local jail. He overhears a story of a great treasure he wants for himself. He escapes and finds the treasure, but soon discovers it can't be borrowed. In fact, it belongs to Alimar. That is when they all learn the truth about Alimar. As a group they continue on to help him on his quest. What none of them realize is that Alimar's destiny is not the only thing they are working towards. They will all be rocked by what the future holds for all of them. Mark and Josie McKinney live with their four amazing kids in Anchorage, Alaska. They love living in the last frontier where they can let their imagination soar even higher than Mt. McKinley. Much like the kingdom of Asteria, Alaska can be wild and untamed. When Mark and Josie imagine the rich forests, mountain passes, rugged towns or the dangerous ocean surrounding Asteria, they pull from personal knowledge that can only come from the vast state they live in. Their children also inspire them to write. All four are creative and artistic in ways that challenge and inspire Mark and Josie to keep writing. Mark and Josie are currently finishing Alimar's Quest Book Three. Note from the authors: We hope you enjoy Alimar's Quest. Our characters have come alive for us. Every page we write is a joy. Look for Book 2, A Kingdom Divided, as it will be coming out soon. We strongly believe that if you enjoy Alimar's Quest Book 1, Asteria's Last Hope, you have a lot to look forward to in the next two books of the series. Thanks for reading, Mark and Josie McKinney

Summary: Sustainable commercial fishing, species conservation, and bycatch are contentious topics. Great emphasis has been placed on the sustainable sourcing of particular species that we buy at the store and order in restaurants, but how can we trust that the fish on our plates, from a system-wide perspective, have been appropriately sourced? Even in what are commonly considered to be the best-managed fisheries in the world (i.e., Alaskan fisheries), thousands of tons of fish are wasted each year in the interest of providing certain species in certain ways to certain people, at certain prices. Are the management practices and regulations that we think are helping actually having the desired outcomes in terms of the effective use of natural resources? This book presents a framework that can enhance our understanding, research, and regulation of frontline organizing processes in commercial fisheries, which may be generalized to other resource extraction industries. It enables readers to better grasp and respond to the need to develop practices and regulations that involve effective use of all natural resources, rather than just a chosen few. The book is especially important to researchers and practitioners active in the fishing industry, and natural resource managers and regulators interested in understanding and improving their management systems. It is also highly relevant to organization and management researchers interested in coupled human and natural systems, ecological sensemaking, the role of quantum mechanics in organizational phenomena, sociomateriality, and sustainability. The book uses the real-world case of an Alaskan fishing fleet to explore how the commercial fishing industry (which includes businesses, management agencies, regulatory bodies, and markets, among others) entangles itself with natural phenomena in order to extract resources from them. After gaining a better understanding of these processes can we see how they can be improved, especially through changes to regulatory management systems, in order to foster not only more sustainable, but also less wasteful (these two goals are not necessarily interdependent in today's regulatory management systems), natural resource extraction and use. Such an understanding requires exploring how regulations, natural phenomena, human sensemaking processes, and market forces entangle at sea to materialize the fish that make their way to our plates - as well as those that, importantly, do not.
