But those women dating younger men must be proactive about managing the doubt-filled self-talk and the outside commentary that could derail their romance. Revising Mrs. Robinson offers an examination of the personal and social responses to relationships between older women and younger men. Author Suzanna Mathews explores the term cougar as a cultural phenomenon and considers what draws cougars and cubs together. She also provides advice for managing the unique challenges of an intergenerational relationship. Summary: Set between the Upper East Side of Manhattan and a country enclave known as The Village, Is There Still Sex in the City? gathers Bushnell’s signature short, sharp, satirical commentaries on the love and dating habits of middle aged men and women as they continue to navigate the ever-modernizing world of relationships. Throughout, Bushnell documents twenty-first century dating phenomena, such as the “Unintended Cub Situation” in which a sensible older woman suddenly becomes the love interest of a much younger man, the “Mona Lisa” Treatment — a vaginal restorative surgery often recommended to middle-aged women — and what it’s really like to go on Tinder dates as a fifty-something divorcée. Bushnell also updates one of her most celebrated stories from Sex and the City, about “Bicycle Boys,” a breed of New York man who was always trying to bring his bike up to women’s apartments. Once an anomaly, Bushnell charts their new ubiquitousness, in addition to where, and how, to do your own man stalking via bicycle (and whether or not it’s worth it). In Is There Still Sex in The City? Bushnell looks at love and life from all angles: marriage and children, divorce and bereavement, as well as the very real pressures on women to maintain their youth and have it all. This is a pull-no-punches social commentary and an indispensable companion to one of the most revolutionary dating books of the twentieth century.

Summary: Despite continuing ageist beliefs that sexuality is a privilege designed only for the young and physically healthy, research continues to indicate that the majority of older adults maintain interest in sexuality and may engage in fulfilling sexual behavior well into their last decade of life. Unfortunately, many professionals remain unaware of general knowledge of elderly sexuality, including the expected and normal physiological changes that can occur within the context of both male and female aging. The presence of chronic illness and other medical problems certainly can influence the expression of an aging adult’s sexuality, and emergent research suggests that there are effective ways to cope with menopause, heart disease, arthritis, incontinence, diabetes, sleep disorders, breast cancer, prostate cancer, and erectile dysfunction (ED), among others. Dramatic changes have taken place within the last decade alone in terms of non-surgical treatment for incontinence and ED, with forms of sex therapy, biofeedback, and PDE-5 inhibitors. Regrettably, many aging adults and their care providers remain unaware of their increased risk factors for STDs, including HIV infection via lack of knowledge, changes in the vaginal lining, and typical declines in immune function. Estimates suggest that by the year 2020, more than half of all individuals living with HIV will be over the age of 50. Although some high quality professional books are available for clinicians, they tend to be disjointed research bibliographies, edited volumes on a narrowly focused aspect of elderly sexuality, or texts that are more than 10 years old. With the extent of new information available regarding sexuality and aging, an up to date, empirically based text is necessary.

Summary: #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • Over two million copies sold! “Packed with incredible insight about what it means to be a woman today.”—Reese Witherspoon (Reese’s Book Club x Hello Sunshine Book Pick) In her most revealing and powerful memoir yet, the activist, speaker, bestselling author, and “patron saint of female empowerment” (People) explores the joy and peace we discover when we stop striving to meet others’ expectations and start trusting the voice deep within us. NAMED ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR BY O: The Oprah Magazine • The Washington Post • Cosmopolitan • Marie Claire • Bloomberg • Parade • “Untamed will liberate women—emotionally, spiritually, and physically. It is phenomenal.”—Elizabeth Gilbert, author of City of Girls and Eat Pray Love This is how you find yourself. There is a voice of longing inside each woman. We strive so mightily to be good: good partners, daughters, mothers, employees, and friends. We hope all this striving will make us feel alive. Instead, it leaves us feeling weary, stuck, overwhelmed, and underwhelmed. We look at our lives and wonder: Wasn’t it all supposed to be more beautiful than this? We quickly silence that question, telling ourselves to be grateful, hiding our discontent—even from ourselves. For many years, Glennon Doyle denied her own discontent. Then, while speaking at a conference, she looked at a woman across the room and fell instantly in love. Three words flooded her mind: There She Is. At first, Glennon assumed these words came to her from on high. But she soon realized they had come to her from within. This was her own voice—the one she had buried beneath decades of numbing addictions, cultural conditioning, and institutional allegiances. This was the voice of the girl she had been before the world told her who to be. Glennon decided to quit abandoning herself and to instead abandon the world’s expectations of her. She quit being good so she could be free. She quit pleasing and started living. Soulful and uproarious, forceful and tender, Untamed is both an intimate memoir and a galvanizing wake-up call. It is the story of how one woman learned that a responsible mother is not one who slowly dies for her children, but one who shows them how to fully live. It is the story of navigating divorce, forming a new blended family, and discovering that the brokenness or wholeness of a family depends not on its structure but on each member’s ability to bring her full self to the table. And it is the story of how each of us can begin to trust ourselves enough to set boundaries, make peace with our bodies, honor our anger and heartbreak, and unleash our truest, wildest instincts so that we become women who can finally look at ourselves and say: There She Is. Untamed shows us how to be brave. As Glennon insists: The braver we are, the luckier we get.

At twenty-one, Jane Langley, Duchess of Chatham, is too young to be a widow. Her husband’s misguided duel with his ruthless younger brother leaves him dead. Although Jane worries about her new role as a landowner in the Wild West, she wonders if a proper British duchess will be accepted in a land that lacks propriety. Does Carson City have a high society? Or does she become a pioneer woman? Her concerns change the morning she meets the ruggedly handsome cowboy Mr. Bellamy. Heath Bellamy is no stranger to misery. He lost his wife shortly after their daughter was born, and for the past two winters the cruel Nevada blizzards killed too many of his ranch’s cattle. They need grass to survive. When a new owner takes over the neighboring big spread, he sees the possibility of the herd grazing on her land. When their relationship turns from friendship to deep affection, they must decide if love is worth risking getting their hearts broken all over again.

Summary: The media perceptions of a COUGAR: an oversexed, desperate older woman on the prowl for nave younger meat could not be more misleading. Every ripened woman I know to be a real COUGAR is so diverse, so deep, and so much more. The COUGAR today has evolved from a woman that has truly suffered to grow and mature. Life has dealt her a hard blow at least once in her youth to teach her what her lifes purpose is truly about. Those lessons that are the most painful are the lessons we grow the most from, and everything is as it should be. Life has taught her, with pleasure and anguish, those lessons so she can discover the real mystery of life and so she, as a spiritually minded soul, can connect to the divine divinity of life. I have been all things unholy; if God can work through me, he can work through anyone (St. Francis of Assisi). So if the COUGAR has chosen a sinful lifestyle, why is she so mysterious and why have so many now look upon her as the new sexual icon and matron of the mystery of life? Perhaps it is from her past sins that she has grown and gained the wisdom of the purpose of life, and that is what makes her the most desirable of all. Lets explore the fascinating lives of COUGARS. Lets get to know about these extraordinary women who fully embrace the COUGAR lifestyle. What makes them so astonishing? Who are they and where have they come from? What lessons has life taught them to make them so amazing? What have they been through and where are they going? Why do they love dating younger men? What keeps them so viral? How did they suddenly become so successful, smart, sexy, and powerful? How do they exhume such confidence? Why have COUGARS become such centers of attention? How have they made their middle age the new sexual icon? How have these women redefined age and relationships, as well as themselves? And lastly, what is it that makes them so astonishingly desirable?

Summary: Dealbreaker is a hilarious reference guide to the qualities that, when discovered, transform the “date you hope to go home with” into the “date you pray never calls again.” A “dealbreaker” could be an annoying habit (you talk through movies), a physical attribute (your soul patch), a lifestyle choice (your cucumber melon body spray), a worldview (your delusions of grandeur), and everything in between! With a combination of good-natured ribbing and sardonic snark, comics Dave Horwitz and Marisa Pinson have catalogued these characteristics that, though occasionally trivial, serve as early warning signs of possible relationship discontent. Based on their popular eponymous blog, which is gaining a wide audience of disgruntled singles, Dealbreaker is sure to resonate with anyone who has had a bad date or a relationship gone awry.
