Summary: Six years ago, I did something I shouldn’t have done. Took something that didn’t belong to me. But there’s always a price to pay when you break the rules. I just didn’t realize she’d be the one to pay it. I am the son of Alpha. A hunter. I’d been sent to find Aria Hale and her family. They’d said it was to bring them home. But that was a lie. That was the night I learned what betrayal was. When those I trusted destroyed what I’d come to love. I never expected to see Aria again, but here she is, six years later, standing on my doorstep, looking for answers, trying to understand something that can’t be understood. I can live with blood on my hands. I can exist without her if it means keeping her safe. I just can’t live knowing she hates me.

Summary: The first time it happened, it seemed like an impossible miracle. Bills were piling up, adding up to more money than I could ever make. Mom's hospital bills. My baby brother's tuition. My tuition. Rent. Electricity. All of it on my shoulders. And I had just lost my job. There was no hope, no money in my account, no work to be found. And then, just when I thought all hope was lost, I found an envelope in the mail. No return address. My name on the front, my address. Inside was a check, made out to me, in the amount of ten thousand dollars. Enough to pay the bills and leave me some left over to live on until I found a job. Enough to let me focus on classes. There was no name on the check, just "VRI Inc.," and a post office box address for somewhere in the city. No hint of identity or reason for the check or anything. No mention of repayment, interest, nothing... except a single word, on the notes line: "You." Just those three letters. If you receive a mysterious check, for enough money to erase all your worries, would you cash it? I did. The next month, I received another check, again from VRI Incorporated. It too contained a single word: "belong." A third check, the next month. This time, two words. Four letters. "To me." The checks kept coming. The notes stopped. Ten thousand dollars, every month. A girl gets used to that, real quick. It let me pay the bills without going into debt. Let me keep my baby brother in school and Mom's hospice care paid for. How do you turn down what seems like free money, when you're desperate? You don't. I didn't. And then, after a year, there was a knock on my door. A sleek black limousine sat on the curb in front of my house. A driver stood in front of me, and he spoke six words: "It's time to pay your debt." Would you have gotten in? I did. It turns out $120,000 doesn't come free.

Summary: A “thoughtful” historical and sociological look inside the fraternity that’s shaped men from W.E.B. DuBois to Martin Luther King, Jr. to Thurgood Marshall (Choice). On December 4, 1906, on Cornell University’s campus, seven black men founded one of the greatest and most enduring organizations in American history. Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. has brought together and shaped such esteemed men as Martin Luther King Jr., Cornel West, Thurgood Marshall, Wes Moore, W.E.B. DuBois, Roland Martin, and Paul Robeson. “Born in the shadow of slavery and on the lap of disenfranchisement,” Alpha Phi Alpha—like other black Greek-letter organizations—was founded to instill a spirit of high academic achievement and intellectualism, foster meaningful and lifelong ties, and racially uplift those brothers who would be initiated into its ranks. In Alpha Phi Alpha, Gregory S. Parks, Stefan M. Bradley, and other contributing authors analyze the fraternity and its members’ fidelity to the founding precepts set forth in 1906. They discuss the identity established by the fraternity at its inception, the challenges of protecting the image and brand, and how the organization can identify and train future Alpha men to uphold the standards of an outstanding African American fraternity. Drawing on organizational identity theory and a diverse array of methodologies, the authors raise and answer questions that are relevant not only to Alpha Phi Alpha but to all black Greek-letter organizations.

Summary: The concept of Alpha Female hasn't been so explored and referred to as what happens to Alpha Male. Therefore, isn't easy to find a common agreement about how an Alpha Woman should look like or behave. As most perspectives taken into consideration portray a negative image of what it means to be active as a woman, most end up waiting, dreaming, forgetting and giving up fighting for their rights. And, as the world evolves and changes, the gap between reality and common believes expands, leading many to despair and suffering. The need for women to be active and persistent in chasing their happiness has never been so important as now. But, in order to be fulfilled, a woman needs to become responsible for her own happiness. The role of women needs to evolve with the rest of the world, and even though women have learned this lesson well in many other areas of life, not much has changed in the field of seduction, relationships and love. But, active women take their genes into the next generation, while passive women are being drawn to extinction. The study of what it means to be an Alpha Female is not only related to behavior, appearance and relationships, or even happiness, but the whole future of mankind, because these are the women that will be ahead of their time. Nowadays, men tend to become more passive and selective, allowing their behavior to evolve with their new status, which in most cases represents a minority. And, a decrease in the number of men available leads women to problems related to competition between themselves and selection of the best available. Therefore, it becomes important to know where and how to find one, but also keep him and know which is worth choosing and having. Alpha Females have learned to be smart, quick and effective, in finding and choosing the man they want, not necessarily because they want to, but because they recognize the emergency of doing so, in order to avoid what other women reject. But, they have a clear advantage that won't share with other women, due to their typical competitive attitude, reason why a woman won't ever write a good book about this topic and all the best have been written by men, even though rarely covering a complete magnitude of the Alpha panorama, which as men they can't fully understand. This book shows the path in the most complete form possible, and many women have succeeded with its application since the first edition was published. But, it's because these same women couldn't succeed with the application of many other bestsellers, that this one in particular distinguishes itself as the most efficient available today.

Summary: At present and over the next few years, large-scale windfarms are being installed far off the coast of Germany in the North and Baltic Sea, making a major contribution to electricity generation from renewable energy sources. One of the German government’s aims is to ensure the environmentally sound and sustainable development of offshore wind energy. Germany’s first offshore test site, alpha ventus, was therefore accompanied from the construction phase to the first years of operation by an intensive environmental research programme, the StUKplus project, financed by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety and coordinated by the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency. Marine and ecological aspects have been researched there for more than five years to improve the level of knowledge about the ecological impacts of offshore windfarms. This book provides a broad, richly illustrated overview of applied and new research methods and monitoring techniques. It summarises the key research findings on the impacts on benthic communities, fish, marine mammals and birds, also taking into account underwater sound and sediment measurements. Interpreting the results in the sense of lessons learned, new challenges and perspectives are discussed for future sustainable offshore development in German waters.
